Guacamelee! 2 is an awkward combo platter of triumphant platforming, stagnant combat, and weak comedy.

Dimension Shellshock is a fun addition to a fantastic videogame if you can accept the grind.

Double Dragon Gaiden works simultaneously as a celebration of the series and as an entry point to beat ’em ups.

Guacamelee! is a fantastic change of pace for players who want to add some beat ’em up spice to their non-linear platforming.

Though its purported goal of representing real history is mostly a gimmick, Wulverblade is a solid and bloody beat ’em up.

I find it difficult to express anything but relentless positivity towards Shredder’s Revenge.

Scott Pilgrim vs. The World: The Game is an imaginative beat ’em up that’s only fun after a four hour grind.

Way of the Passive Fist is a beat ‘em up with the twist that I never beat anyone up.

Kawaii Deathu Desu has an evocative premise but fails to expand on it to create a rewarding experience.
