#BLUD’s incredible animations and note-perfect parodies of social media belie its empty world, tedious quests, and forgettable combat.

Sometimes there’s satisfaction to be found from a repetitive task performed thoroughly and well. I feel none of that satisfaction here.

Unsighted’s time limiting mechanics make me feel for its characters in ways that pushes it towards the top tiers of greatness.

Disco Elysium is intricate, dense, and often genius. It is also slow, unfocused, and sometimes boring.

The Wild at Heart is an engaging Sendak-esque adventure that lacks refinement.

These are the five indie videogames on Nintendo Switch I consider to be the must-plays of the Pandemic Year, Part 2: Things Got Worse.

Unpacking’s activity is removing things from boxes. The game is understanding what those things tell me about the unseen protagonist.

Dodgeball Academia’s beautiful sprite art and fun premise cannot overcome its tiny world and repetitive matches.
